Fab 5 Friday! And you!

Okay, so last Friday, my hubby, parents, and I went and saw the Avengers. Oh man. LOVED IT! It was awesome! I felt like watching it again as soon as it ended! Afterwards, we went to Café Zupas for my first time. SO GOOD! What did I have, you ask? Well, if you recognize this….
“We went out to dinner, I had the lobster bisque, we went back to my place, and yada yada yada, I never heard from him again.” “You yada yada yada’d over the best part!” “I mentioned the bisque.”
Now, The Avengers was amazing. But that lobster bisque? Oh man. It was incredible. I could wax poetic. I need to find a recipe for it. Now. But, while there, I sampled another soup, the Wisconsin Cauliflower soup. Delicious. And while hunting for the lobster recipe, I came across this. I will be making it soon!

From Crowley Party. She experimented with a soup and it tasted very similar to Zupas. I’m there!

My friend pinned this and I repinned it from her. Looks soooo good! From Picky Palate. Hey, if she claims her kids eat it, maybe mine will too!
Apologies in advance. The rest are very girly. I’m surrounded by them, you know?

Look how cute this cascading ruffle skirt is! From Lil Blue Boo. Her daughter modeling it is absolutely adorable. I love the boots she’s wearing with it!

Again with little girl skirts! So my daughter refuses to wear anything but….So what’s a mom to do? Here’s another great skirt (read super easy) from Sewing in No Man’s Land.

Do any of you read Tatertots and Jello? She started a new blog with someone else totally dedicated to upcycling and refashions. Refashion Files here. On there this past week, was this cute dress from a men’s work shirt, Girl, Inspired. I love the gray! So, what have you been up to lately? Show us here!

What I Wore Sunday: Week 13

frame to match teal and white
Well, here’s another way to wear that super cute dress!
week 13
I love this dress and all the different ways I can wear it.  See that purple sweater/shrug I am wearing?  I made that to go over my bridesmaid’s dress for my sister’s wedding several years ago.  I really liked the way it looked with this dress.
I {heart} Shabby Apple.
Now I’m eyeballing this skirt.

So so cute.  I can just imagine all the possibilities with that baby.  I need this skirt for my What I Wore Sunday experiment.
They’ve also got this new line called The Block.
Dresses from Shabby Apple
I love all the bold colors, and there are so many different ways to wear those outfits.
I’m definitely heading over to Shabby Apple to make some purchases.  I think I’ll buy one of each.  Don’t tell the Hubsters.  At least we’ve got that discount code, eh?
Onto the party…

What did you wear?  Show us!
Link up to anything you have refashioned or sewn yourself.  It doesn’t have to be dressy, and it doesn’t have to be worn on a Sunday.  It doesn’t even have to be worn by you.  Show it off!

What I Wore Sunday: Week 12

Oh.My.Goodness.

Hubby drug us out of bed this morning at 4:00 a.m. to hit a really big sale at the hardware store.

…at 4:00 a.m.!!!

Insanity.

At least we got the rest of the supplies we need to remodel the upstairs bathroom, and we only spent $168.00.

…at 4:00 a.m.

Wanna know something really funny?  My brother and his wife (and three very little girls) were all there too!  Maybe insanity is in our blood.  :)

Onto What I Wore Sunday…

I made a skirt for myself for Easter.  Okay, so I really just practiced on some fabric from my stash.  I needed to make this as a bride’s maid skirt for one of my good friends.  I liked the practice skirt so much that I kept it and wore it on Easter Sunday.  Good times.

I used this pattern, and made skirt E in the bottom corner.

Here I am cutting out the bride’s maid skirt.  See what the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome has reduced me to?  I’m wearing my braces and using the electric scissors I inherited from Hubby’s grandma.  What a blessing those old, loud scissors are!

This is how the practice skirt turned out.  Sorry.  It’s a cell phone picture.

Just pretend my bedroom is clean, m’kay?!

I love how it turned out, and oh my goodness.  This skirt was so EASY!  It’s a New Look pattern, and the number is E6463, if you want to find that somewhere.  I looked online and didn’t find anything.

(Sorry.  The Hubs was at a meeting, so Jingus took this blurry picture.  He’s eleven.)

Nice, Springy, fun and comfy!

*WARNING*

Wrap-around skirts are NOT suggested for mothers of small children.

Sorry for the show, Mike.  *blush*

Moving right along…

The party was fun, right?

My favorite entry was this wonderful Felt Flowers Button Snake from Craft Buds.

Isn’t that a fun idea?  I think Monkey would love something like this.  So would Firecracker.  This is a perfect quiet activity.

Ash’s favorite entry was these super cute clutches from Damita’s Pretty Wrap.

Ashlee thinks these cute and fun, and she doesn’t have any of her own.  A girl can’t have too many bags and purses!

The most viewed entry was a tie!

This Wristlet Purse from Sewing for Utange is a lot of fun.  I love the way she used the pockets from jeans.  Clever, and super cute!

Coleen from Crafty and Cooking Momma refashioned this beach hat to match her Easter outfit.  Fabulous!  I love how it turned out!

Have a fandibulous weekend!

Fabulous Friday

Okay, have you ever had one of those days weeks where you are just going almost nonstop, and then you look at a calendar and realize it’s Friday? What the!? How’d that happen! But I feel like we are finally there. Next week, I get to start doing actual projects that don’t involve finding some long-lost treasure (or even necessity…ties for church anyone?!) and making it feel like home. Yeah!!! Super excited about that. I pulled out some boxes that haven’t seen the light of day for almost 2 years through all the moves, and it was fun seeing how much crap décor we have to play with! I think I’ll start with the girlies room, and work my way out from there. Yep, sounds good. So, 2 things that we got in the mail this week are making my top 5 today.

Woohoo!! We’ve entered the new millennium and finally retired the DVD player I had in college (that was a Wal-Mart special even then…) and bought this blu-ray player! We also bought another external hard drive so I can put pictures of projects kids on it! Yeah for that! So maybe now I’ll stop being lame and actually start doing a real project post on here. Hmmm, imagine that!Smile Okay, on to other things from blogland:

Since I just moved (again), this seems like a fabulous gift idea. Anyone in Kaysville read this and want to make me one? Smile Brown Paper Packages has the printable for giving someone who just moved a helpful little book to show the hot-spots in town. Nice right?

Okay, so Skip to My Lou made this granola as Teacher Appreciation gift, but I don’t have kids in school. I want this for me! I’m thinking I need to make this, along with some freezer meals, and then we’ll feel more ready to face things, instead of always scrambling to find what food we have last minute. Anyone else? I’m still using the excuse of “we just moved” but that won’t work too much longer!

Okay yum. Brown Paper Packages again with this delicious looking baklava pie. I want. Now.
