Halloween Fab 5 Friday!

5, give or take a few…dozen? These are all things I’ve pinned that I pretty much and inspire me with decorating. Hope they inspire you too!

I seriously adore Lara at Less Cake More Frosting. This one of the first things I discovered from her, and I’ve been a follower ever since. LOVE her. Love this black and white Halloween décor.

I love how she incorporates purple and green into her Halloween décor. This is a pretty simple idea but makes for a fun overall look. This one is over at Makoodle.

There are almost no words. This was a girl’s night out. Seriously, I’d LOVE to go to a party like this. I pretty much covet that candelabra. This is over at Celebrations at Home.

This page has TONS of ideas, even if you just want to decorate more fall-like. How fun is this tablescape? Basically a bunch of glass vases and apothecary jars. Probably not safe at my house with little ‘uns. This is over at Fresh home

This fun tablescape is from Lil' Luna via Eighteen 25, and I think the pops of orange are lots of fun!

I know I showed this before, but it’s still awesome. Over at Candice Stringham Photography

This is a very fun, fall, festive porch décor. Makes me wish I could do a little more for my porch/front door/back door. Go check it out at Josie Jones & Co.

K I want to go to these parties people have with awesome tables. Makes me want to do something awesome like that. This one is from Bubblegum and Duct Tape

I really like the simplicity and vintage feel of this mantel. This is part of 24 fall mantel ideas at Blogs Babble.

This here is from the Corner House Blog. I love what she did with the whole look of the mantel that’s not a mantel. Nice.

Seriously, I hardly scratched the surface of what I’ve pinned, much less the awesomeness that’s out there. If you want more inspiration, go check out the 190+pins on my Halloween board. What do you love? Do you have any Halloween awesome décor to send my way?

Fab 5 Friday

Hello! Have you entered the giveaway yet? It’ll be a great one to do with your kids!

Onto this week’s features.

Since my oldest just started dance lessons, I totally have every intention of doing this for her when she grows out of the shoes. So sweet! Over at Martha Stewart.

If the upcoming Halloween holiday has you wanting to make a wreath, but you need some ideas, go check here at 36th Avenue. There’s 20! Need more ideas? How about my Halloween Pin board (176 pins and counting), or my Wreath pin board (62 pins and counting). TONS of ideas!

Have you seen Snow White and the Huntsman? I haven’t. I wanted to, mainly because of Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron. But I did not want to because of Kristen Stewart. I have big issues with her. Sorry if that makes you hate me. But, SNAP! blog  did a fun way to celebrate the movie coming out. Can someone tell me why it’s not at Redbox yet? Annoying!

This will be a fun thing for preschool this Halloween with my kids. It’s the kid’s name written in cursive on a folded paper, then cut out and opened up. Over here.

Speaking of Halloween, have you been following along with Eighteen 25’s Spooktacular September? It’s so fun! There’s tons of ideas, like this Halloween Countdown, or this glitter slime, or this fun googly eye garland.

I need to move this over to my tried and true board, because this was so yummy. My hubby and I just kept snacking on them while the rest of dinner cooked. So good! Bloomin Zucchini sticks over at King Arthur’s Flour.

What fun things did you pin/do this week? How about next week we’ll have a link party so you can show off? Sound good? Have a great weekend!

Fab 5 Friday

Hello hello hello! Yesterday I spent a little bit o time organizing my Pinterest boards. I made a desserts, breakfast, and crock pot board to separate my recipes up some more. 500+ recipes was a bit much on one board, don’t you think? Then, I updated my board of things (recipes or tips) I’ve tried and didn’t like, and added one for the ones that I did like. Finally, I added a board for those projects that I actually have finished. There’s still more pins to go through, but it was a good start! My recipes board is down to 300 now. Whoosh! I’m up to 57 boards and 4,239 pins. That’s nuts. Some are repeats too, so I try to delete those, or the ones that get repinned, and don’t go anywhere, I delete them too. Okay, I’ll see if I can do the top 5 this week, but my internet is acting up, we shall see….Update: 4 hours later, I’m almost done….*sigh*

I know at least 5 lovely ladies who are having babies in the next 4 months, so I saw this list of 15 baby gifts to make on Tip Junkie and HAD to pin it!

Tatertots and Jello has a fantastic link party every Friday, and compiles great lists from link-ups. This week, she had awesome birthday ideas. I WANT that cake. Yum.

I actually just found this site and became a follower of 36th avenue, and Loved her Halloween décor. I have a mirror a lot like this, and love how she decorated it.

I would apologize for featuring the same blog, but she also had an adorable Halloween printable, and a list of FREE Halloween fonts that I will be downloading ASAP.

I found this house via Pinterest, and this post was incredible. I love all the details of how she decorates her house for Halloween. Seriously, go over and drool. At least if you’re nearly as obsessed with Halloween as I am.

Anyway, I have Halloween on the brain, so that was my theme this time! I just got back from an awesome sale and scored some great clothes and shoes for my girls for super cheap! (talking $5 for 6 things people. ‘Course I had a coupon, but whatever) Have you heard of Just Between Friends? If you live in Utah, you need to go over and look at their site. It’s fantastic. They may have locations elsewhere, I just don’t know. Go look now!

Have a great weekend! We’re off to Bear Lake tomorrow!!

scrapbook winner

Yeah Mandy!! That’s also our cousin. She happens to have the coolest birthday ever. This wasn’t rigged, because everyone who entered is somehow related to us. I guess that’s proof only our family reads this Smile

It really is a good software, and I’m excited to play more with it. Here’s the code: STMMMS64456. You can also just click on the ad over on the right. Happy Scrapping! Onto our fab Friday!

Seriously I laughed when I saw these zombie cake pops. I must make some this year! Over at Baking at Midnight, and she has other Halloween inspired ones too!

Can you believe this was made from Pistachio shells! That’s a ton of pistachios! Over at Addicted 2 Decorating

I had an idea very similar to this in the wee small hours of the morning, so get excited…Coming soon! But this adorable one is over at Craftaholics Anonymous

Pretty sure I see a tie pillow in my near future….Oh, I have some fun projects coming up!! This one is over at The Creative Cubby

Hooray for Everything!

Have you entered the giveaway yet?
Okay this is a Pinterest-inspired project. I pinned this a few weeks ago

(source)
And let it stew in my brains for awhile. Then, I got to thinking about a favorite project of mine that I don’t even have in my own home! *Gasp* It was a gift that you may remember if you’ve been around awhile here.

I wax poetic in my own head about Amy Butler. I pretty much adore her patterns and fabrics. So I decided to use a favorite pattern for the Gum Drop Pillow and make my own storage.

It looks like she has even more pillow patterns you could use for this too. (like this one, or this one) All of our stuffed animals were in a nice, big wicker basket, but it was messy looking, and overflowing. So I made the gum drop pillow, and just made one little change.
Toy Holder (2)
I added a zipper. One of these days I’ll show you my hoard of zippers. It’s almost embarrassing. So I just did that on the final seam, and then turned it inside out. (if you’re really observant, you recognize the fabric from these pillow beds, another Pinterest project)
Toy Holder (3)
Then, we stuffed it full of the little critters
Toy Holder (4)
Zipped it up, and voila!
Toy Holder (1)
Seating for the munchkins, if they so desire it! And the basket? It now holds excess shoes by the door, instead of being all over the floor. Hooray!

Fab Friday

I’m scrambling around right now to get everything ready for a weekend trip up to Idaho. Mainly I’m trying to have enough crap to occupy 2 kids on a 3+ hour drive, both ways. Uphill. In the snow. I hit up the library and Target’s dollar spot, so hopefully (knock on wood) things will go well. Right this minute, I’m making one of these for my oldest.

She’s got really straightforward instructions, and I’m almost done! Over at Super Jenn. Mine are free because I have more fabric than any one person should really have.

Next, I’m hoping to make some of these for the car drive.

I’m hoping the novelty of cool crayons will make coloring cooler. Plus, they won’t roll and get lost like regular crayons. I hope. Over at Suenos encantados.

Okay, so other great stuff I saw this week….It’s mostly food. Sorry. That’s what’s on my brain right now, I guess.

I have an absolutely favorite blondie recipe over at Smitten Kitchen, but I may have to give this one a try from Our Best Bites. Pretty soon, I think.

Pretty sure I need this book. So, anyone who wants to get me an early Christmas present, here’s what I want!! Over at Amazon.

I am ree-di-cool-ous-ly excited for Halloween. Always am. I love it. I already feel behind because I haven’t figured out what our family will be this year. But, these pumpkins over at Be Different Act Normal make me so happy. Yeah! I figure I can start easing out Halloween décor the beginning of September, right? Smile

Anyway, I’ve gotta hustle and finish getting my crap together. Wish me luck on the driving!!

It’s Friday, I’m in Love

Today I get to see Nat! Woohoo! That only happens a few times a year. Sad, I know. But we get to play tonight! And whether or not she’d tell you, she’s been working around the clock on at least 2 weddings!! Meaning bridesmaid stuff, veils, gifts, etc. She’s slightly crazy, but mostly awesome. So, here’s my picks from blogland this week.

Yep, I’d like longer lashes please. Have to give this a try! Over at Fashion Indie.

Oh man. Want. Doesn’t it just sound like a fun grown-up s’more? Over at Mommy’s Sweet Confessions.

Maybe I’ll have to try this reward system in conjunction with my chore/allowance thing I posted about the other day. Over at Counting Coconuts.

I thought this was a cute idea for road trips. Have the kids do a scrapbook/memories book along the way! See more about it over at Martha Stewart (who else?!)

When I saw this, I immediately started a mental check of our supplies to see if I could whip up a batch. Stat. I don’t usually like bark, but this pretzel, chocolate, caramel creation looks awesome! I think I’ll have to make a practice batch (or ten) for Christmas gifts. What do you think? Over at Mama Say What?!

So there you go. Hope you have a great weekend! We get to go do more work on a house we haven’t lived in for 2 years that just doesn’t want to sell *sigh*. Wish us luck!

FRIDAY!!

We’re getting everything ready to go to Bear Lake this weekend! I’m excited! It used to be a week long event, but with busy schedules and crazy lives, it’s down to one day, but we’re camping to make it a little longer. So, some of my favorite pins this week are ones that I actually did. Go figure, actually doing the stuff I pin?

First off, I made homemade tortillas! I haven’t ever made them before, but we wanted to do breakfast burritos and I didn’t have any on hand, so I made some. I used this recipe at The Urban Spork. I’m not going to show you their pretty tortillas, because they would put mine to shame. But I learned a lot to do better for next time. Here’s mine:

tortillas

The other project I did was I wanted a bookmark that I could use if I actually get around to reading on the beach. So I used stuff I had to make these:

paper clips

The bobby pins, paper clip, and most of the cabochons are from Pick Your Plum, and a few of the cabochons are from Plaid Barn. I’ve seen this before so I don’t have a link to anywhere specific, but I’ve seen it, so I just whipped those up with hot glue.

Onto other pins that I want to do soon:

Be still my heart. Dark chocolate and ice cream? Sign me up! Over at the Faux Martha.

Some of you have kids going back to school soon, and I thought this was a cute way to make some personalized locker accessories. Over at Sassy Style.

This is a cute new take on the t-shirt to skirt idea. Over at Infarrantly Creative.

Have you been making anything you’ve pinned lately? Have a great Friday!
