What I Wore Sunday: Week 36

…52 weeks of shaking up the wardrobe…

The Rules:

1. Wear a different outfit every Sunday.

I guess, technically, I should call this “What I Wore Thursday.”  With General Conference being last weekend, I didn’t go to Church.  I watched and listened to Conference in my favorite jeans and tee shirt.

But…

I had a Church meeting on Thursday night, and this is what I wore:

This is a big, soft, comfy sweater I wore with a cotton skirt I made years ago.  You can’t see so well from the picture, but it has a drawstring waistband and along the hem and a couple inches above I added some cute trim in the same color.

How adorable is that?  And what a great way to use up some of those scraps from your stash.  You could do this in Halloween colors for a witch!  Oh, so so cute!

Such a fun idea.  You could do this in so many different fabrics.  The style is classic, and that would go with just about anything.  Love it!

I just love the colors, and don’t they look comfy?  So much fun.

What I Wore Sunday

Oh goodness.  I got my tonsils out, and boy!  Does it hurt!  So, I wore jammies on Sunday and didn’t go to church.  Sorry!  I hope we can still be friends, and I’ll pick it up again next week.

What I Wore Sunday: Week 35

Guess what Jingus, Crocky, and The Hubsters are doing today?

They’re flying in a biplane to pass off a Boy Scout Merit Badge.  I’m trying not to think about it, and I’m praying they make it back safely.  Goodness.  It makes me nervous.  Not them, though.  They were all just so excited to go!

This is what I wore Sunday:

I am wearing my ruffle tank (made from a nightgown), my lettuce edge cardigan (tutorial coming soon), and my pencil skirt from Wal-Mart.  I love that skirt!  :)

First up is this sweet little Rapunzel dress from Alison of Heavenly Handmades.

I just love all the details she put into the dress.  She has a fabulous tutorial for the dress--just in time for Halloween!

Mira from Sewing The Littleheart Collection shows us how to do pin-tucks, pleats, and smocking all in the same outfit.

Seriously.  How cute is that outfit?  I love everything about it.  Thanks for the fabulous tutorial, Mira!  :)

Next up is this cute little Tea Roses Dress from Blooms and Bugs.

Aren’t those colors just so yummy?  It is just perfect for a sweet little baby!  Love it!

Gate No.4 shows us how to make a sleeveless dress modest.  Let’s face it.  Not all of us want to (or even should) show off all that skin. 

I just love how she added sleeves but didn’t take away from the beauty of the dress.  The next time I need to add sleeves to a formal, I am going to do it this way.  The last one I added sleeves to was very similar to the Garden Wedding Flower Girl Dress I made.  Gate No.4’s method covers more of the back.  I love that. 

Finally, be sure to check out these fun infinity scarves--just in time for fall.

How about this checkered one from Gingerly Made?  Isn’t that fun?  I love both of these scarves and can’t wait to make a few of my own.

This is what I wore Sunday:

Cute skirt, right?  Wanna see what it looked like before I got to it?

Yep.  It was an old lady nightgown I got at the thrift store for $3.00.  It was brand spankin’ new and even had the original price tags on it.  It was originally $5.00 from Woolworth’s--a store that hasn’t been in this area since I moved here 22 years ago.  It was long gone before my family moved here.

I kept the original side pocket.  I made a belt out of the sleeves. 

I shirred the waistband, and added a flounce on the bottom of the skirt.

The verdict?!  I love it!  Not only is it super cute and fun, but it is so so comfortable!  :)

(Well, duh!  It was a nightgown…)

…and I promise; that feature post is coming soon.  Soon.  Very soon.  We’ve just been dealing with a lot of health issues in my family.  No fun.  I’m hoping I’ll have time sometime soon.

I don’t know why this picture is so grainy, but whatevs.  I got this skirt off the clearance rack when Deege was a baby.  He is seven, so that was a while ago.  It was a long skirt, but not long enough.  It was just an awkward length, so I shortened it.  The zipper kept getting stuck, so I changed the waistband on it, too.  Now it’s one of my favorite skirts.

This is my Easter skirt and handmade watch band.  I wore them with my cute shoes from Amazon, and my tops from Maurices.  I got a lot of compliments on this outfit, and I’ll admit; it’s one of my favorites.  The only problem I have with it is the wrap-around-skirt.  It doesn’t work out so well with a two-year-old, and I may have accidentally flashed some poor, innocent, bystanders.  Sorry.

I’m still crazy busy processing produce from the garden, but that will end soon, too.

This is what I wore Sunday:

This is a ruffle tank that didn’t fit right, so I resized it on the shoulder seams.  Easy peasy.  I made the cardigan out of a clearance rack tee shirt.  I did a lettuce hem on my serger.  That tutorial will come sometime soon.

I got a lot of compliments on this outfit, but that may just be because I was wearing the high school’s colors to Church.  I don’t know.  But, I really like this outfit.

Here’s what I wore:

This is a terrible, awful picture.  Firecracker took it, and he’s five.  Sorry.  I chopped off my head because I was sneezing in the picture.  It wasn’t pretty!  ;)

Anyway, this is the lace shirt I made with a blue under shirt (that I made) and a black skirt (that I made).  This skirt was made from the same pattern I used for my Easter skirt in 2011.

Here’s what I wore:

That’s my ruffle shirt.  Again.  Sheesh, that thing gets a lot of mileage!  :)  I made my skirt, and I just shirred the waistband.  I made it the same way I made my knit tiered skirt, just without the tiers.  And it isn’t knit.  It’s cotton.  I don’t remember where I got my cute strappy sandals, but I can guarantee they were on sale!  ;)  Some of my brothers think open toed shoes are disgusting.  I think some of my brothers are disgusting, so there!  :)

Here’s what I wore:

This is the super cute pencil skirt I bought at Wal-Mart with my refashioned ruffle shirt, and my ruched sleeve cardigan.  I loved the little pop of red from the belt, and thought this would have been cuter with red heels.  But, I don’t have red heels, and the boots are super comfortable.  So, it is what it is.  I’ll keep my eye out for some cute red heels!  :)

Thanks to all of you for entering!  That was fun.  We should do it again sometime!  :)

Before I show y’all what I wore on Sunday, I’ve got to show you something I just made.  I’m super excited about it, and I love how it turned out:

So, last Saturday, I went wedding dress shopping with a dear friend of mine.  I could.not.believe. how expensive the veils were!  I think the cheapest one we found was $85.00.  YIKES!

I looked at that and thought, “I could make that.  Easy.”

She let me try, and this is what I came up with.  I just used satin stitch rolled hem on my serger for the edges of the veil.  The top is ribbon rosettes with a small pearl in the center.  That is sewn to the veil, which is sewn to two white combs.  That’s it.

Guess how much this veil cost?!

SIX DOLLARS!!!  Woot! 

Maybe I shouldn’t brag about that, but I was super excited about it!

Bleh.  I hate seeing pictures of myself.  Anyway, that is the skirt I made for Easter, with my super cute shoes from Amazon, and a cheapola shirt from Maurices’.  The detail on the shirt was fun.  Well worth the four dollars I spent on the shirt!
