Lately I've been wearing......

For the end of term Year 6 Leavers do last week Charlie wore polo shirt by Ralph Lauren, Chino's by Abercrombie and White Vans.

Fast forward to the summer holidays where he just chucks anything on for a day indoors or in the garden and I need a serious word about colour co-ordination.....

If the sunglasses were red, he would have resembled a traffic light! Wearing top from River Island Kids, Tommy Hilfiger shorts.

For a day at the beach it was the new River Island kids hat and old M&S swimshorts.

Hope your Tweens are enjoying the sunshine!

Who would have thought a pair of chino's would be so hard to find?

OK so it may not be the height of summer but jeans can be a bit much for 12 months of the year and even boys need a bit of variation when it comes to bottom half choices when the temperature goes up a notch or two (if were are lucky).
As OH had bought himself two pairs of Chino's (one stone, one cobalt blue) some months back and all the cool dudes seem to be wearing them whether they are two or sixty-two, I was on a mission, but I didn't take into account just how difficult buying a pair in an age 12 would be!
First I tried online, everywhere. Nada. Lots about, not in Charlie's size.
Shopping trip to Maidstone. Trip to Primark with friend who was buying same for her son. £7 shit quality, awful Tobacco colour. Walked out. Yuk.
Next kids department. Two pairs, classic cut rather than the slim leg I was after, as these are far more trendy and Chazzie is not at the 62 end of the Chino wearing spectrum.  Also they looked huge and I don't ever buy anything for him in Next so I didn't know how the sizing would come up, but the rise must have been 15 inches I swear, and I do not want to turn my boy into a mini Simon Cowell. Colours were fab, a sort of turquoise and a cobalt blue, but I walked out.
I checked ebay and could not believe the price second hand chino's are fetching, I just won't pay it, are mothers bloody nuts or is it just that they are having the same problems as me with their Millenium born boys?
With high hopes that we will actually get some sun this summer, I did find some chino shorts online at House of Fraser by Tommy Hilfiger.  I loved the colour of them and they will look cute with check shirts or polo shirts.

Hackett Shorts was £40 now £28 at House of Fraser. Also available in Stone.

So if anybody see's any full length Chino's in blue or stone in an age 12, with a slim fit but without a grandad rise, grab them for me for goodness sake!

Check Shirts for cool dudes.

I already had a short sleeved check shirt on my summer shopping list for Charlie and had looked at a few but not made any definite decision on what sort of "check" I wanted to show him, after all, everything has to meet with his approval all of a sudden - grrrr
Anyway I was shopping in the Maidstone branch of House of Fraser and was served by a very "cool" looking dude in the mens department who would have made an amazing bit of arm candy had I have been 20 years younger *sigh* and I really liked his check shirt.  Upon closer inspection I could see it was Tommy Hilfiger and couldn't wait to get home to trawl the internet to see if they did a boys version and guess what, they did!

Tommy Hilfiger check shirt was £47.50 now £24 here.

There are lots of more budget friendly options on the High Street including this one from Benetton at House of Fraser.....

Was £14.90 now £11.92 here.

A versatile piece that can be worn with jeans, chino's or shorts.
