Terminus for Kohlschreiber


Philipp Kohlschreiber had in his second round match against Janko Tipsarevic while always the chance for "big points" had, in the end, but still Augsburg 3:6, beaten 6:7 (5:7) and 2:6. Kohlschreiber was the last German professional in each of the U.S. Open. Kohlschreiber went with a 2-5 down, he had caught the day before the rain interruption in the match. Tipsarevic settled this lead and did not take the first set safely in the bag. Then there developed a close fight. Kohlschreiber had to give up but his serve in the seventh game, but a little later countered with the re-break. With a 5-4 lead in the tiebreak of the Augsburg sniffed already set on ball, but Tipsarevic kept his cool and won the second round with three points in the series. 


David Ferrer seeks the quarter-finals


After defeating Lleyton Hewitt in four sets (7-6 (11-9), 4-6, 6-3, 6-0) faces David Ferrer tonight Frenchman Richard Gasquet for a place in the quarter- final. Gasquet and Ferrer will meet around 18:00 in Louis Armstrong and the track will kick off a day in which he also will compete, among others, tennis players like Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro.
