Swedish striker dies due to cardiac arrest after gole


The Swedish player Victor Brännström 29 died last Sunday due to a cardiac arrest during a match of his team, the Pitea IF, IF against Umedalens, valid for the fourth division of Swedish football. The striker suffered cardiac arrest shortly after scoring the first goal for his team in the fourth minute of the first half. Brännström fell on the lawn and received immediate resuscitation attempts by doctors from both teams while three ambulances arrived, taking him to the hospital Pitea. But his death was confirmed once arrived at the scene, at 16h local (11am GMT). Brännström, who played for Helsingborgs, site of the first division, had a history of heart problems. He came to retire from football in January after a fainting during departure, but the striker decided to return anything after being identified in medical examinations. However the player decided to resume his career on his own.
