Diego Maradona was appointed as Honorary Ambassador for Sport Dubai on Sunday, less than two months after being fired from the club Al Wasl, UAE.

The Argentine has expressed a desire to be a coach in China during a trip to Beijing in August, but accepted the diplomatic investiture in Dubai Sports Council (DSC acronym in English) after turning down offers "unsatisfactory" to train clubs. His new role will also help resolve the dispute with Al Wasl, who dismissed him in July after just over a year of a two-year contract and a season without titles, in which the club finished eighth in a league of 12 teams .

Maradona says he would like to be a coach in Chinese football
"The Dubai Sports Council and I discussed some ideas and they are serious about improving the sports sector in Dubai," said the world champion 51 years in a press conference in the country. "For those who think they fell, they fell apart, I'm stronger now," he added. Maradona described the pressures that a coach faces, even in a football league relatively irrelevant as the UAE. "I used to not sleep at all, and is very intense and exhausting. For me, I would live more years," he said. "I would like to retire or relax for a while."
